ABOUT
ST-JUST-HISTORY
I
have worked in St Just Library
as a Tourist Information
Assistant during the summer
months for 9 years. My
job involves finding accommodation
and any other information
regarding the St Just district.
I had many enquiries regarding
family history, but realised
that local information is
limited since most genealogical
records are held by the
Public Record Office in
Truro. I was fortunate to
meet Brian Cuddy who had
started a database of the
Wesleyan Chapel memorial
inscriptions. I thought
it would be advantageous
to have all the memorial
inscriptions for the area
in one place. The St Just
and District Trust agreed
that this would be an important
asset to St Just and obtained
funding to buy a computer.
I was then able to create
a database of memorial inscriptions
for St Just, Sancreed, Pendeen,
Morvah Church and Tregerest
Chapel. Records for
Sennen, Zennor, St Buryan
& Quaker memorial inscriptions
will be transferred from
written sources in due course.
The database is growing
month by month but already
contains 12,500 records,
an invaluable resource for
local people and Cornish
emigrants all over the world
who want to research their
family history and trace
their ancestors.
The
advantage of working in
the library in the summer
months put me in contact
with many local people who
have helped me to provide
information for researchers,
houses and streets where
families lived and archive
photographs. Many have researched
their family trees as far
back as the sixteenth century.
The creation of the St Just
family records database
would not have been possible
without the help, support
and encouragement of The
St Just & District Trust.
I Would also like to thank
John Harry, Gillian Hocking,
Rosemary Cargeeg, Elaine
George, Pat Wall, Brian
Cuddy who have helped visitors
in their research. A special
thanks to Bernard Rees Chairman
of the District Trust.
If
you would like further information
on the database project
or the family history services
I can provide please contact
me by email.

ABOUT
GENEALOGY
Genealogy
is the study of one’s family’s
lineage, and is actually
the second most searched
for topic on the internet.
People use genealogy to
trace their family trees,
history and heraldry or
simply to find a specific
person in a family’s past
and connect him or her to
other members of that family.

HOW
MUCH WILL IT COST?
At
St Just History our fees
can start from as little
as £25.00. The cost all
depends on the level of
the individual requirement,
for instance, if a client
contacts us with an old
family photograph from St
Just that they would like
us to identify the cost
would therefore be inexpensive.
Should a particular client
wish for us to produce a
thorough family search from
relatively little information
then obviously the cost
would be more expensive.
The only way to determine
how much it will cost you
is to contact us with your
specific requirement.
Thank
you for expressing an interest
in St Just History
